Positive pregnancy test.....with Mirena
Omg, I am in shock, and COMPLETE disbelief. I have had the Mirena for just over a year. Had a period every month ranging from minor spotting for a few days to a pretty heavy flow other months. I've been waiting for it.....and nothing. Sore boobs, no problem, okay it's coming.....nothing.
So today on a whim I bought a 3 pack of pregnancy teats. Just took one a little while ago....and it instantly without a doubt is positive.
I haven't even told DH yet.....

Woah, crazy! I can't imagine a surprise pregnancy, I feel like it would be very overwhelming (do you have any other kids?). A new life is always a blessing though even in unexpected situations. So congrats!!!

Woah, crazy! I can't imagine a surprise pregnancy, I feel like it would be very overwhelming (do you have any other kids?). A new life is always a blessing though even in unexpected situations. So congrats!!!
I am very overwhelmed with this right now. And don't know whether to cry or laugh or scream. I am thrilled, scared and nervous. I have been Googling and there's SO many different sinarios I've found. From eptopic, to miscarriage, to birth defect to healthy baby.
DH and I have 2 other kids. We obviously weren't trying and thought that this was a very good way to prevent. We never discussed the possibility of a third. We cut things tight as it is so this is definitely going to make things tighter.
I am going to be calling my OBGYN asap tomorrow morning though, that's for sure!!

I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm due with #2 in a few weeks & this is it for us, not planning for a 3rd. Everyone keeps "predicting" that I'll get pregnant anyhow with another soon after this ones born.  I know I'd embrace it, but still... goodness!
I hope everything is healthy & good (google is the devil! Lol). And I'm sure financially you'll make it work

Honestly I have heard of this on more than one occasion with Mirena. And it gives me heart failure and is why I didn't even consider it.
Obviously if you were on bc like that you weren't looking to get pregnant so I won't say congrats...I know you are probably freaking out. .I would be.
I am sorry your bc failed. I hope everything works out.

Yes make sure you go see your OB/GYN immediately!!!
I was just talking to my husband yesterday about how people don't use birth control and then say they had a "surprise" pregnancy...well this one is actually a surprise!!
Everything will work out, best of luck to you.

Ugh! I wish I did before I got it! ! Dr said, it's like the BCP but better, no user error to worry about. Low dose of hormones, better periods....blah blah blah. Less then 1% pregnancy rate! !

I am freaking out, and I don't want to tell DH until I get to the dr and figure out exactly what is going on.
I knew I'd find kind words and warm hearts on LIF though. Thank you.
What's funny is we tries for almost 2 years to get pregnant with our first. Saw a fertility dr and did timed intercourse and iui's!! Our 2nd we relied heavily on timed intercourse to get pregnant. Now THIS?!?

Yea, this is definitely the textbook definition of surprise pregnancy! !
I am hoping for the best outcome obviously, but am preparing for the worst news.
Just yesterday DH asked me if I was coming down with something because I keep saying how tired I am the past week.

I am so sorry that you obviously weren't trying and now have this unexpected surprise. I will say that each baby is a blessing, and it will work itself out.
My 3rd was a surprise, my DH had to have back surgery from a bad car accident and was told he had a 98% chance of being infertile, so we just assumed we were done at 2. Well surprise 8 months later we found out we were pregnant with #3 and I'm actually back for #4, so you just never know  .. I hope you can look back on this in a few years and see it as a happy surprise!

Positive pregnancy test.....with Mirena
Called the dr office and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday morning. Was told if I have any unbearable cramping or bleeding before then I should go to the ER.
Now, to wait until after the dr or tell DH tonight....I don't know if I can sit on this anxiety and worry much longer.....
Thank you all for listening and taking the time to respond. It's definitely helped me.

I would tell your DH- you should be open with him. Especially if you are worried about cramping/ bleeding (prayers that does not happen) but just so he knows what's going on!

I would definitely talk to him right away. There's absolutely no reason for you to be in this alone, and he has a right to know. KWIM? I'm sure it'll help to have his love and support while you figure things out and see doctor, etc.

Your doctor gave you an appointment five days from now?? I think I would call back in demand to be seen right away. Won't it cause complications with the developing pregnancy if the IUD is still in place?
I also agree you should let your husband know right away. You didn't do anything wrong!

I am going to the dr tonight for removal and an ultrasound. Unfortunately because of the time of the appointment, I had to call DH and tell him over the phone because I want him to be there. And he has to come straight from work

 It's for the best- you want to get checked out right away. How'd he take it?
