I live in PJS too and LOVE the area I live in...but PJS has its "areas" just like ANY other town.
Mastic/Shirley is suppose to be a booming area but I have not heard the best of things. But I also think it depends on the immediate "area".
ETA: People told me PJS didnt used to be the way it was years ago and that it was a booming town and now it is what it is. I think Mastic/Shirley will one day turn into that.
I have lived in PJS since 1983 and IMO it hasn't changed much, just maybe some bigger shopping centers and new house developments.
....and assisted living gated communities  !!!
