For department is saying 4 injured. I'm assuming that doesn't include the suspect who was injured but is in custody.
Eta- just heard 4 does include the suspect. No life threatening injuries thank goodness.

Port Authority
My FIL was evacuated from port authority. My husband works for LIRR and gets the info as it becomes available. I’ll post any updates if I hear from him. I’m so upset over this

Re: Port Authority
The NYPD identified the suspect in the New York City subway bombing as Akayed Ullah. He is reportedly an immigrant from Bangladesh and lives in Brooklyn. He has been in the United States for about 7-years.
Police said that Ullah was wearing what was described as a crude explosive device that was strapped to his body when it exploded while he walked in an underground passageway. Image Attachment(s):

I was going to say that. I am shocked there hasn't been way worse attacks in NY since 9/11. The subways are like a no brainer. It's impossible to secure them

Same here. Although I feel that there is a strong police presence I'm surprised nothing has happened sooner.

Just hope he dies a slow and agonizing death.
It was chaos at the 34th Street subway station this morning, and even more chaos on the streets as I was walking towards my office on 42nd.

I used to teach in NYC and I remember talking with the teacher across the hall about a concern we both shared, that suicide bombers would begin getting on buses and subways. We were both expecting it at any time. I am glad it hasn't become the norm, but it could at any time.

Same here. I've always felt like we were waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak.

Re: Port Authority
Crazy. What an ass! My train line was affected so I took the LIRR from Jamaica. Gotta say that even with all this going on, and 8th Avenue being shut down to traffic, things seemed pretty calm. There was no panic, everyone was just going where they needed to go. New Yorkers are the best.
I hope this guy blew up his penis.

Does anyone else feel weird that we have become so desensitized to these types of events? I mean a guy just walks in to Port Authority with a freaking bomb and here we are at the end of the day and its like nothing even happened. I am happy we dont dwell on things bit at the same time its sad to know that this is the type of world we live in.

Not really weird, desensitized is a good word.
My feeling is that I can't control what goes on around me, I can only control me. If something bad is going to happen, so be it. Sounds callous, I try to be aware of what is going on around me, but I cannot live my life in fear that something bad is going to happen.

It is kind of weird - I agree.
My cousin from Napa emailed me last night to make sure I was ok and that I stayed home yesterday because they made it seem like the whole city shut down yesterday.

Not desensitized, just realistic. It wasn't something where anyone was seriously hurt, it didn't do any damage to any buildings.. it was a guy who failed in his sad little mission. I'm glad he was caught and i'm glad it wasn't as serious as it could have been, but for those of us that live or work in the city, you have to deal and move on or you can't function. I watched enough tv that morning to determine that it was an isolated event, figured out how it was going to affect my commute, and then left for work. Nothing else to do other than keep on keepin on!

Yes. I posted after the Home Depot truck attack that a co worker didn't want to come into the city the day after it, but was fine to come in 2 days after it. It really makes no sense. If things are going to happen you have no warning. Nobody had a warning of yesterday. You just have to be vigilant and move on. They want to disrupt our lives. I'm glad they didn't accomplish that yesterday
