Poopie Question
Sorry - but I am new to this and I am not sure whats normal, but I don't think this is - so I am looking for advice. When Alison was in the hospital and when we brought her home, she was a pooping machine - she was pooping about 6 times a day. Well as time has gone by - she is 2 weeks old. It hasn't been as many times a day. Well, now she hasn't pooped in over 24 hours. Is there something that I can give her? Or any advice? TIA

Re: Poopie Question
She is fine My daughter wouldn't go for a day or two in the beginning (particularly when we switched formulas) - now she is more regular. My doctors told me that it was perfectly normal for newborns not to go for 3-4 days and not to be concerned. As long as she isn't in pain and not umcomfortable - there really isn't much you can do.
I was told not to give DD any water (because it doesn't have any nutrients) but on one occasin we did the thermometer trick after 2 days that she hadn't pooped and it worked. My doctor doesn't recommend this method though because the baby must learn to go potty on his/her own - but as i first time mom - i myself panicked.
Give it some more time, bicyle her legs if you can - im sure she will go soon.

Re: Poopie Question
This is normal. Sometimes Ryan would go 2x a day and then sometimes he would go every other day. As long as she doesnt seem to be in pain or constipated I think she is fine.

Same here. I'm sure the baby is fine. If it is 2 or 3 days and still no poop and the baby is uncomfortable then call your ped. But I wouldnt worry at all right now.

Re: Poopie Question
Isabella was like this too, it's normal. She really only started going daily last week(11 weeks). Before that it ranged from every other day to 2 days.
