Poll - Would your DH go to preschool orientation?

We have preschool orientation this Thursday. Not sure if most times the DHs go, or not? What do you think? Not sure if I should get a babysitter or just have DH stay home with DD.

Yes, he went to orientation and to the first day as well

eta: I would say that of the 25 or so families that were at orientation, about half had hubbies there

DH went last year since I had just had DD via c/s a few days before. I took him this year since I felt gulity I didn't go last year! But there was another dad there (and only 6 kids so I'm sure more dads would go in a larger group).

Is your DD supposed to go too?

If DH was off from work he would have definitey went. There were some dads there too.

No. No children allowed that's why I am trying to decide to get a babysitter or just have DH watch her (Which would be much easier). But I want DH to meet everyone so I am torn.

Ohhhhh. I would have your Dh come then. I would want my DH to meet the teachers and see the classroom, etc.

DH has gone to orientation without me a few times since I had conflicts with work. This year, I went to orientation without DH. I saw a bunch of DH's there with their wives.

Mine didn't. He stayed home with the kids and I went to the meet the teacher night.
We wound up switching classes at the last minute anyway, so I didn't even meet their teacher that night.

DH stayed home, but only because ds was sick and we have an infant. I went on my own to meet the teacher & about half of the kids were there with their dad & mom, the rest either had just mom or dad on their own.

My boys are technically in 2 classes. I took them for Orientation yesterday. DH is taking them to Orientation today. He's the one to will be taking them to school and picking them up everyday so it's important for him to go.

When we went yesterday, only 2 other kids were there. 1 just had mom; the other kid had both parents.

Generally the answer I would give would be "of course, why wouldn't he?" but I'm in the same boat this year as you. They have no childcare offered. So its only going to be me. He has met everyone already (she's back in the same school).

Next Spring though they have an after-hours, children invited, Kindergarten preview we are anxious to see at the local elementary school.

Last year 'no children' were allowed and I brought her anyway. Whatcha gonna do? Kick us out? She was quiet and good all night long. Ironically they made her a model for the class as she was a returning student. She quietly worked on various projects, listened as the teacher spoke to us and to her. I think she sold some parents on their choice LOL.

Still so anxious for Kinder next year!

My DH stayed home with my DD for the orientation but he came to her first day of school.

It was just easier to have him stay home with her at 7pm than to have to get a babysitter.

Our old school and new one it seems that the 3 yr parents and new parents to the school both parents attend. Then for the 4s and parents who had siblings in the past the moms were basically there bc they were btdt.

Re: Poll - Would your DH go to preschool orientation?

Mine did, but only because he dropped m kids off and was the one who volunteered at parties and as a parent reader because he works nights and I wok days.

If I were the one home during the day and doing all of the preschool activities he probably would've stayed home.

DS just had orientation at preschool this week and DH did not go - he was working. Out of all the parents there only one kid had both parents - everyone else had just one parent representing their child.

Re: Poll - Would your DH go to preschool orientation?

During the day? No way would he miss work for something like this, not important IMO. If it was in the evening/weekend he would most likely not want to go but I would probably want company. College now thats a different story!!

My DH actually went by himself this year. For past orientations, we went together but it didn't work out like that for this year.
