Funny you should ask today - I am having a party for my DD tonight and part of it is cupcake decorating - I usually make cream cheese frosting but this week has been manic so I picked up some canned frosting this morning - made me cringe and I refuse to look at the ingredient list - at least I know I wont eat any cupcakes with this frosting on it so it will save my waistline

No, I feel it tastes off in the last couple years, so I always make my own now, unless it's ice cream cake and then I use cool whip lol.

I like it, but frosting is so simple to make and you can't pipe canned frosting, so I vote homemade.

I don't like. I even found a powered organic frosting with great ingredients, you just add butter and it tasted like flavored butter. I prefer homemade! Or whipped cream which I love.

I stopped using it. I make my own. It's really easy and quick and there are much fewer chemicals in it.

You can pipe it, I do it all the time
and I'm guilty of the spoon thing too .....
I'd prefer to make my own, but I honestly can't find a recipe I like. I don't like buttercream that's so heavy in butter and confectionary sugar .........it's just TOO much

I only like white canned frosting or the rainbow chip. But I don't really like frosting at all - especially buttercream. I prefer whipped cream or cream cheese frosting.
You can pipe canned frosting if you add powdered sugar to it.

I never realized so many people actually make their own. I think I am one of the few in my group that make icing and cake from scratch.
Most I know use box cake and canned icing

You'd probably like swiss meringue buttercream. It's my favorite, but that IS a pain in the ass to make!
