Re: Pls. help re: breath
Do you brush her teeth?
Does she like any of the dental chews? I've noticed after we got Dottie a few Nylabones, that her breath got better. She chews on it everynight before we go to bed - sort of like brushing her teeth
She likes these:

My girl dog has atrocious breath, yet she eats exactly the same thing as my boy dog and his is fine.
Nothing i give her helps...even "minty" bones...lol

Re: Pls. help re: breath
Try giving her hard biscuits to clean her teeth...that's usually the source of the bad breath.

Re: Pls. help re: breath
She has eaten the food since she got to us - and she has always had stinky breath - but I think I just ignored it - and thought it would get better in time - it hasn't. I don't want to switch her food because she does eat it - and it's one of those very natural dog foods - so I figure - why mess with a good thing.
I will def. get some of the bones tomorrow - and Juney - how in the heck do you brush Rudy's teeth? I know DH would do this and I'm sure Abby would let us. What do I use?

Re: Pls. help re: breath
we brush char's teeth once or twice a week, we give her these chicken strips (they also come in beef) from target that have a minty smell to them - so the dogs love them b/c they taste like chicken or beef but they are specifically for their breath - and her breath smells rather minty after! they are organic and good for the dog. we also have a breath spray we use after brushing and whenever she needs it that you can buy at any pet store - our vet recommended it. also, the dental bones are great. HTH!

I got a kit at pet smart. It has a long toothbrush Doggie toothpast and a little brush looking thing that goes on your finger. Probably for the gums like you would use on a baby
While it's not easy he is huge I get it done

How old is she? Riley had to the most HORRIBLE breath when we first got her...they said some puppies get it after they are weaned from their mothers milk. After a few months is finally went away....but I would def get her some of the things PP told you about too.

I was going to ask how old she was also, not to be gross but when they are puppies they have a tendency to eat their poop You might want to try to monitor that if this is the case.

Re: Pls. help re: breath
Have you checked with your vet? There may be an underlying health issue or bad teeth. She is still a pippy, I know, but I would ask. Our Bella has terrible breath and is going to have 2 teeth pulled in a few months.

Re: Pls. help re: breath
Bad breath in dogs and cats can often be as a result of a health issue. I recommend you take her to a vet. It could be internal, it could be an abcess in the mouth, vet will know.

Re: Pls. help re: breath
She eats her poop sometimes - so that is her issue. I have been really really monitoring her lately to make sure she doesn't.
She had her tooth pulled when she was spayed - so I don't think that had anything to do with it.
I bought some of the bones you mentioned - and some other things to help out - so hopefully they work.
Thanks for your advice!

Try using Tobasco it is a LIFE SAVER with getting puppies to stop eating poop. When she goes, leave it there and drown it with Tabasco sauce, she will try to go over to it and once she gets a little taste of that on her lips or tongue, I can almost guarantee she will stop doing it. My take a few tries, but it works and my Puppy now does her business and walks away from it and continues to play, instead of even attempting to eat it.
