Please share your unique Holiday gifts for pre-walker babies...
Aside from the standard Fisher Price/Playskool fanfare... did you/are you getting DC something special or unique?
ie.. Sophie the Giraffe, wooden rattles, special stuffed animal, organic/green toys...
I like to find new ideas for special toys and gifts for DS.

Not so much a toy, but I got an ornament set where you can make a handprint from plaster (non-toxic) and use it as an ornament. And the ribbon has "Ethan's First Christmas 2009" on it. I got it from walmart.com.
I also got him books, one in particular where you can insert your own pics, so they can recognize familiar faces in the book - walmart also.

The only thing DD got for her first Christmas from us was an ornament for the tree. She was 3 weeks old.

Ooh... I got a handprint ornament kit from BRU but not with a personalized ribbon  I was going to wait to do it actually on Christmas day so I was thinking of wrapping it as a gift.
And special books, got those too. I'm goo goo for books! He'll probably get 8-10 books just from us between Christmas and Hanukkah!

Don't think I'll be much help, but wanted to rave about Sophie the Giraffe. I got it on accident from amazon. I ordered something else and forgot it was in my cart, so she wound up getting it anyway. She loves the thing. So if you DC is into chewing on everything (what lil one isn't...lol) I would get it.

I love vintage toys. So far my kids have the fisher price phone with the dial(I mean who has a dial phone anymore) an dthe xylophone. Where i live there is a flea market and thats where I bought them. Cleaned them up with bleach and water.
Check out Back to Basics Toys. They have great quality stuff..

Not super unique but one of our best purchases last Christmas was the PBK First Anywhere Chair with his name on it. One year later and he still loves that chair (and it gets him to sit which is key for when they do start walking  )
