Please recommend first walking shoes
I'm a bit confused about first walking shoes. My DD is just about ready to take off walking. What shoes are the best for walking? Is it Stride Rite? TIA

Re: Please recommend first walking shoes
love the pedipeds we have for DD2. Durable, adorable and flexible soles but the leather is thick enough to be protective.
I like them better than Stride Rite.

Re: Please recommend first walking shoes
DS's first "shoes" were pedipeds as well. They were great. We went with Stride Rite this time around and they are ok.

Re: Please recommend first walking shoes
For the first pair definitely go to Stride Rite and have your LO measured. They can advise you on the best shoe at that point- depending on how much your LO is walking- full time walker vs just starting to walk etc

Re: Please recommend first walking shoes
I went to the Stride Rite outlet last week to get her measured, but didn't buy anything at the time. I didd have one of the employees show me the shoes that she would need as a new walker. It was kind of a small selection I felt, color-wise.
I will look into the pedipeds.
Thank you for the recommendations! :)

stride rite. they were the only ones that fit DD properly!
ETA: i saw that you only had a small selection....DD had one pair to choose from at 14m she was a 3.5. they were cute so i didnt mind and they were an excellent shoe.

nordstroms shoe dept is great. DS walks holding on to things and hands so they suggested stride rite's cruisers line which are softer than walking shoes. Theyve been great so far. If you go there, ask for Don, he's awesome!

for indoor, or light outdoor wear mintoes, similar to pedi peds but softer and washable she makes the custom if you want, choose your style and colors, great quality!

for outdoor
See Kai Run, love these, so soft and wonderful, one of the few recommended by American Pediatric Medical Association for new walkers.

When DS started walking better I got him Naturnio, they are so soft, wonderful quality. Usually very pricey some are made in Italy, but all are made in Europe (not China), but I find cheaper on sale ones on amazon.
Yeah I know these are pricey in general, and not easy to find cheap, but I do not believe in skimping on footwear, I'll cut corners elsewhere. I wasn't a fan of stride rite compared to others I've seen. And I prefer not to buy made in China where I can.
