No wonder they don't believe you. They don't have heat in their houses. This heating rod you are talking about is about 10 years away for them. Tell them you have indoor plumbing and watch a riot on the board.

Me neither. I don't have a problem with MOST people from anyplace in the world, except for these women and this one in particular from Missouri.

let me start with: i agree with your definitions.
baseboards=heating
moulding=decorative piece on wall at floor or ceiling
but i wanted to comment on this:

tell them that i said they can go suck an egg. yes, definitions change through usage, not because you feel like it.
although you're right, there are a million (maybe less  ) things in this world that people call differently. something as simple as a sandwich can be called a po' boy, a sub, a torpedo, a hoagie. does that mean that people are wrong for calling it one and not the other??!!

I call the heating element a baseboard, however they are also correct about the moulding, since there are different types of moudling:
Crown moulding
Chair rail moulding
Window/door moulding
and Baseboard Moulding
If they have never heard of baseboard heating, then the only baseboard they have ever heard of is probably moulding.
I totally agree with you though - you are not wrong, they are just mis-informed.

I usually call them radiators.
And either moulding or sometimes trim.
