Please knock some sense into me...
so this is my dilemma.
We're currently living in a one bedroom apartment with a backyard. We have a dog and my son was just born in September. We have a very good relationship with our landlord and neighbors and we're paying dirt-cheap rent. While we're currently saving for our first house (we were set back a little by me being out on maternity leave) I am getting the itch to move into a bigger place (rent). While the space is becoming more and more limited, I'm thinking we need a bigger place but at the same time that would set us back even more from saving (more $ for rent, childcare, etc.) and getting our own place.
So what would you do in our place? Suffer (space-wise) for the next 1.5-2 years and get a place of your own or get a bigger place (but that would set you back another 3-4 years from getting a place of your own).

Sylvia, I totally agree with previous posters!!!!
Stay where you are, you have a nice place, Mikey is still small and doesn't require his own room until later....that way you will be able to save more and then buy your own house!!!! it will be totally worth it!!!!

I would stay put and keep saving. Moving is such a pain and so stressful....why do that to yourself twice in a matter of a few years.
Plus, it'll be easier on you when you move since the more space you have the more stuff you collect

I completely agree.
me too. Actually, we're doing the same thing. I would love a bigger place, but we are able to save so much here. It can def be inconvinient, but it will allow you to be in such a better position when you can buy that house.

1.5 to 2 years isn't that bad. Save, save, save. Being in close quarters may even motivate you to save more nad maybe you'd be able to afford a house sooner! My co-worker lived in a 1 BR with her DH and son for 1 year and survived. She just tried to be really organized and creative with storage space and such.

Sylvia-SUFFER for now, seriously...I know it will stink but it's going to be so worth it in the long run. It's so hard saving for a house paying alot of rent.
