i really never asked for prayers and i havent really been on the pet board a lot, so u might not know me BUT PLEASE if u have a moment i need ur prayers for my golden retreiver, Toby.
Toby has been suffering from epilepsy for 3 yrs now, he is 8 yrs old. We have been going through the motions of changing his medications bc he has become close to toxic on the phenobaritol (the med he has been on for the 3 ys). He hasn't been able to walk for two days now and he is now in the hospital for overnight tests.
I am sufficiently at a loss. This dog has been nothing but perfect. The best personality u could ever find. Im just sooooo sad that there is a possiblity that we might have to put him down. Thank u in advance.
UPDATE: thank u all soooooo much for ur prayers! ok so we went to pick him up at the hospital last night and he looked like a puppy....no one would have guessed that he wasnt able to walk the night before....they flushed out his system of the drug that did this....although happy about how he looked we knew we had to make yet abnother decision about another med to put him on in order to ween him off of the pheno.....the doc prescribed another drug....only problem is its only side effect is sedation which is what the other drug's side effect was that affected him soooooo bad.....so I NEED EVERYONE'S PRAYERS AGAIN THAT THIS DRUG WORKS! BECAUSE IF IT DOESNT I DONT KNOW WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO
UPDATE 9/25/07 IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE THE MEDICATIONS ARE NOT WORKING AND AS THE DOCTOR PUT IT SOME ANIMALS THAT ARE EPILEPTIC ARE INCURABLE....I FEEL SOOOOOO SAD RIGHT NOW BC I KNOW WHAT WE HAVE TO DO....PLEASE KEEP TOBY, ME AND MY FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS AS WE FINALLY (AFTER A THREE YEAR BATTLE WITH EPILEPSY ETC) LET TOBY GO
