I can't get over the amount of progress Lila has shown since she started therapy last Thursday. She's starting to regain some head control, and over the last 2 days, has really started to swat at toys and grasp them. I've even gotten some belly laughs out of her. Her sleeping habits are atrocious so im insanely sleep deprived. She'll only Really sleep when being held and will rarely successfully transfer to the crib. We're still on track to be discharged on Friday the 15th! We're so excited to be so close to bringing her home! She'll likely start outpatient therapy once discharged until EI takes over.
St. Charles has such great therapists. It's been the best thing for her. Unfortunately there are things about the hospital that make me not want to voluntarily come back if God forbid one of us needs hospitalization again. We're in what, according the sign when you walk in, is the pediatric rehab wing. One hallway is all adults and we had an incident the other night- there is a parent lounge where we were told we could sit in with family, bring in food, and even Lila can go in. We brought in dinner the other night and there was a youngish man- maybe around 20 in there watching tv. So we sit at the table and sit down and the man leaves. Next thing we know, a nurse comes in and says we need to leave because the room is used for the alcohol and drug rehab patients on the floor and they can't be near children. Again this is in a room designated as a parent lounge- in a pediatric wing. Apparently this wing also has a 4 bed detox. I don't understand why of all places, this detox is located in a pediatric wing. So yeah. But again, the doctors, nurses, and therapists are pretty great.
DD1 is doing well with her leg. We go back in 2 weeks for an X-ray. She's walking and even running a bit with the cast (allowed) and she tells everyone that she fell on the slide lol.

That does not sound right. What would prevent an alcohol/drug rehab patient being near a child. It sounds like he might be a registered sex offender that cant be near children. I would push back on that. If this is a patient lounge, and your dd is a patient, why cant she be with her family in that room?

60 days. She has gone from a size 2 diaper to size 3, size 6 month clothes to size 9 months. Her eyes went from gray to brown. Her hair is much longer. In the past 2 weeks she's had 36 hours of intensive therapies. So much has changed and every day she gets stronger. After 2 long months, we are happy to say Lila is finally home!!
