please help. re:stomach flu

How long does it typically last? It is going on day 4 for my ds. He stopped throwing up but is still very ill. He has horrible diarrhea. He is so weak and told me it hurts everywhere. I took him to pm pediatrics, I was so not happy with them. I am scared but do not want to be the over reacting mother. Please tell me what he is going through is normal and not something worse.

When the stomach flu swept through our house, there were varying degrees of illness duration.

DD last about 3 days, but was perfectly functional and was playing. As long as we stuck to a very strict BRAT diet, she was fine otherwise.

DH and I, on the other hand, were complete messes! I lasted about 4 days with residual affects about a week later. DH lasted about 5 days with residual effects about 2 weeks after.

Did PM Pediatrics say anything? If anything, take him to your regular ped as well to get checked out.

dd had it for 8 days in jan. threw up from like days 1-3 and had diarrhea from days 3-8. 2 of those days she slept non stop. the drs had us dorce a syringe of pedialite on her every 30 minutes because she wouldnt drimk it. it prevented her from becoming dehydrated. avoid all milk amd you can try food but it just made it worse for my dd.

It really depends on the child I find.

DD#1 vomited once last Sunday night around 9 then about 4 hours later. One time of minor diarrhea. No fever. Ped examined her and felt it was a side effect of the zythromax she was on. Nope.

Wed night, around 11 DD#2 started throwing up. She vomited about once every hour until about 10 the next day. No fever. Felt okay was eating normally Saturday. Then Saturday afternoon out of nowhere she vomited all over once. Has been fine since. No diarrhea.
