Please help me....potty training girls when you have carpet...

Everyone i asked about potty training DD said just take her diaper off and follow her around, we can't do that because our house is filled with carper. She knows the potty and will sit on it(the little frog potty from Target) and whenever she sits on it we tell her that is were you go pee pee, so how di i potty train her when i can't let her run around with no diaper and she doesn't really tell me when she needs to go....

That is what i thought, everyone including DH is on my case about how theyt hink she is ready but how can she be ready if she doesn't tell me that she has to go? She sits on her little frog potty and stuff but it think she is more or less playing with it but she knows how to sit on it.

I have 3 little rascals and my son was a PAIN and he was trained, then DD came along and he regressed so I just waited literally until the week of his 3rd bday and he trained in like a week..then DD was such a little madame and she just trained herself at 18 months (I had nothing to do with that!) and then my other LO (DD) will be 3 in October and she goes from being trained to wetting herself but she won't poo in her diaper.. she actually takes it off and goes on the toilet.. so I have no ***** clue what's going on with her because I've gone from taking the diaper away completely and after a week of her wetting herself every single time, I just go back to the diaper because to me she isn't ready

i had the total opposite experience...

i had DD#2 when DD#1 was 2.5. I was due late November and DD#1 was to start nursery school in January so i wanted to have her trained before DD#2 showed up.

DD#1 was trained the WEEK before DD#2 made her debut. i was so lucky. she never regressed. i am so happy it happened that way, but it it could have been a total fluke...

as far as the carpets go....

we had an accident here and there, but nothing too bad. we just spent LOTS of time in the bathroom and the kitchen. i don't think DD#2 ever peed on the carpets, we had a few accidents but i seem to remember they also were contained to the kitchen and bathroom.

I could never get over a bare butt on my floors & couch so we never did that.

Try underwear UNDER a pull-up. The idea is go make them uncomfortable & pull-ups & diapers are too absorbent.

undies under diaper here too.

Mostly just pull ups but we (not me but my aunt) just started training about 3weeks ago. Right now I do believe she's good to go.. but that's me

We've NEVER done bare... too many holes and folds!

I am potty training DS but he just walks around naked and will go on the potty when he has to go. We don't ask him. So far no accidents.
We have a potty on every floor of the house for him.

I'm with you on that! The thought of my kids bare privates on my couch where I lay down made me want to Chat Icon

My kids never regressed when a new baby was born. If anything, it was something to keep them motivated. I would say to Billy "You dont want to be like Baby Chrarlie in diapers, do you?" and he would run to the bathroom Chat Icon

BTDT mom, years ago, lol, plus a preschool teacher.
My DS was in my preschool and at the age of 3 he was the only 1 in his class not potty trained so his teacher made me feel pressured that he should be. Well we tried and he held everything back and doctor said dont listen to her and stop til he is ready. Well a month later we had a week off and I put him in underwear and he never looked back.Chat Icon
I tell parents, for 14 years now, that when your child id ready they will go. I have been potty training kids for that longChat Icon But I have had kids that kept saying no and one morning they woke up and told their mom/dad that they wanted underwear and they were right. Ive had when then BM first before peeing in the potty. Some just take more time then others. I tell them your child will tell you in one way or another. My big advice is never push but, when they are ready stay on top of it. I have had parents complain that when they go out it is an inconvince... UMM your child is potty trained and you should be happy and help them with it.
Guess what Im saying is dont listen to everyone but your DD and dont feel pressured. P.S.. dont let anyone tell you girls train faster then boys, I had a class one year where all the boys were trained and none of the girls. They will do it when they are ready.
P.S.S. Pull ups dont hold as much as a diaper and cost more, diapers are still good when potty training.

You also can do a sticker chart by putting a sticker on the chart and giving your child one as well, they get soo excited over this. It works with some of the kids in the past.Chat Icon

Not sure how old your DD is but, this method of potty training sounds crazy to me! DS trained at 2yrs 4 mos for pee pee and never once peed on my floors! I put him in pull ups and he would tell me when he had to go to the potty!
