Please help me with CIO and helping DD STTN
So we did CIO for DD for all feedings except 4:30 feed. She is so inconsistent though. I'm so jealous of everyone that says they do 3 nights of CIO and their LO sleeps through the night after that and they sometimes re-do CIO after colds etc. I tried to re-do CIO after she was sick but she was screaming bloody murder and sitting in the crib and I felt horrible as if she was in pain or something. For the last couple days she was only waking at 4:30 so I've been trying to nurse her for 1 minute less every 2 days in hopes that would help her sleep but then last night she woke at 12:30, 1:30 and 4:30. She's still sleeping in my room in a pack n play because I'm afraid if we do CIO she will wake my 4 y/o up with her crying because his room is right next to hers. I feel so scatter brained....please help. She's 11 months and I'm ready to sleep.

How does she fall asleep? Do you put her down awake or is she rocked/nursed to sleep?
For us, making sure she was put down awake and doing CIO at bedtime was key. Your DD is on the older side, as was mine when I did CIO (9/10 months), so it will take a little longer. Don't want to discourage you, but it took close to 2 weeks for us.

I recommend getting a noise machine for both childrens rooms that way you don't have to worry so much abt the crying. It's hard to let a baby cry and settle themselves if you are worrying about waking an older sibling.
ETA: By 11 months maybe a pak n play is not the most comfortable so she is waking up alot?
So much of this is trial and error!

Make sure she's putting herself to sleep at bedtime. I fell into the habit of nursing my DS to sleep and that was a mistake.
I'd have my DH get up with her. She associates you with nursing so I feel like that's what she's looking for. I'm guilty of this - I nursed my DS in the middle of the night til he was 22 months!
ETA; I agree that the PnP is probably uncomfortable. My DS will not sleep in it.

I nurse her about 30-45 min before bedtime and I put her down awake. She doesn't cry at bedtime which I was surprised about when I stopped nursing jer to sleep. She cries in the middle of the night though. I know I need to get her into her crib but I'm afraid she'll wake my 4 year old. She has a sound machine but he doesn't. I guess I need to try soon and see hoe it goes

Agreed with putting her down awake. It made all the difference. I was nursing her to sleep and the rare occasions that I was able to finagle her into her crib still asleep, she'd wake up every 45 minutes or so. It was torture! Now I nurse her and put her down in her crib either drowsy or wide awake. I sing her her bedtime song (If I hear Tale as Old as Time one more time, I'm going to cut a beast! ) and then leave the room. The first two nights were the only nights she really fussed for a long time. It was horrible, she was screaming bloody murder. So I'd go in every 5 minutes and rub her back, calm her down, then leave again while she was still awake. Now she doesn't make a peep when I leave the room and she's asleep in minutes. I never thought it would work. Never in a million years! Good luck! I hope you get a good night's sleep soon!
ETA: DD does sttn, though very rarely, maybe once every 2 weeks, she'll wake up in the middle of the night.

Hmmm, do you usually go to her right away if she cries in the middle of the night? I find that sometimes she does wake up for a minute or two and gives a little cry and then falls back to sleep. I usually try and give it 5 minutes before actually going to her. And even then, I don't pick her up, don't nurse her. I just rub her back and calm her down and leave again to let her settle herself back to sleep.

I think it may be because she's in the room with you. She sees you and doesn't understand why you aren't picking her up. I'd move her into her own room. Let her learn to sleep on her own.

You NEED to get her into the crib. She will sleep much better than in the PnP. She wakes up and sees you there. Please don't worry about waking up your 4 year old; he will go right back to sleep, I guarantee it.
My DD is 7 months old and has been in the crib since 5 weeks old. She has slept through the night here and there. She's been doing it pretty consistently for the last 3 weeks, but on the nights when she's screaming bloody murder, my DS (6 years old, and they share a wall) never wakes up. I can count on one hand the amount of times she's woken him up.
Try it on a weekend and see what happens. If you don't try, you won't know.

She definitely can't see me because she's at the foot of the bed, not next to me. Moving her where she couldn't see me was recommended to me when this all first began. I will definitely try her own crib and see how it goes. Fingers crossed

Re: Please help me with CIO and helping DD STTN
Sometimes these things are just milestones and maturity.
We tried ferber method when she about that age (I didn't want to, but DH did).. and she just wasn't ready.
It sucked because we were so sleep deprived but literally one night about a month ago, I KNEW she was ready. We tired it and in 3 nights it really did work.
The kids have to be ready IMHO.
