Please help, if infants are not suppose to eat strawberries until after their 1st year...
why are there a lot of stage 2 foods with strawberries mixed with other fruits? Has anyone feed their DC this? What was the reaction?

I fed it to both of them. The ped said there was such a small amount of strawberry in it there was very little chance of reaction.

Yep, if it was in jarred baby food, I fed it to them. My kids loved the jarred blueberry/apple.

Good point, like PPs said - I think b/c there are such small amounts. I hope DDs aren't allergic to strawberries - I love them!
Did you try them yet? Do the girls like them?

The only time that I would be worried about it is if you have a family member that is allergic to berries or has alot of food allergies.

I've given DS a fruit mix that had strawberry in it. I did call the Dr. first and asked him if it was alright. He said it was fine since it was part of a mxed combo. He did tell me to give small portions at first. Just to make sure there are no allergies. He did fine with it. I've even given DS a Banana/Orange medley mix...

My DD has had blueberries and strawberries, fresh and from the jar.
My ped never said we have to wait.
DD LOVES them! I put the fresh ones in some yogurt with some ice, she loves it!

Strawberries are highly allergic - in the berry family. So I would imagine giving large amounts might not be wise. Blueberries, however, are part of the cranberry family which is one of the least allergic foods - no worries on that one!

I remember waiting with my boys... but when I told my Dr. that he said not too... I guess the only way to know is to try it early in the day so you can watch for a reaction. I was allergic to stawberries as a child but my boys are not. Good luck! Strawberry banana was a big hit in our house!

I always wondered the same thing. I haven't given any of these combos to DD yet because the doc said to avoid berried, citrus and pineapple until after a year. Well, she'll be a year in 3 weeks, so maybe I'll start with some of these. They've been in the cupboard for months.

Well, I just found out that DH gave her one of the combos with strawberries in it yesterday. I don't know if it has anything to do with it or not, but she has little red bumps on her face today. I couldn't figure out what they were from, then DH told me that he gave that to her so now I'm thinking that it may have been that. I guess I'll wait a few weeks and try again.
