Please help!!! 2 year old sleep regression?

My almost 2 year old DD was a fantastic sleeper, she has sttn since 6 months and for months now without waking at all and we could put her down sleeping or awake and she would fall asleep on her own. She even cut her molars and did not wake up from teething!
For the past week and a half, she does not want to go in her crib- for naps or at nighttime. She cries and screams at the top of her lungs. When we go back into her room to console her, she tries to wrap her arms and legs around us. If we pick her up she stops crying and either points to her chair for us to sit or to the door because she wants to go into the living room and lay on the couch. We even slept with her a few nights on the couch just so we can get some sleep but that will create a bad habit.
What has scared us now is that we have tried a little Ferber method- CIO at intervals- and 2 nights ago, she climbed out of her crib! I don't think she's ready for a toddler bed yet b/c she will just get out of bed and probably bang on the door! We are so tired and concerned that she is not getting proper rest. Any suggestions?

What if you put a baby gate in front of her door so she cant get out of her room? Then you wont have to worry about her climbing out of the crib and getting hurt. This totally sucks. My only advice is to stay strong and not let her on the couch or in your bed. Easier said that done.

My dd was doing this too. She eventually stopped but it took us deciding to not take her out or pick her up. I would sit in the chair in her room while she was in her crib, I didn't mind doing that. but I would not take her out of her crib.

At 1 point I realized the nightlight in her room was making shadows that were scaring her. I changed from the old school white night light to the blue glow ones and that helped a lot too!

Also my dd gave up naps at 2. She would either just lay there and cry every 5 minutes for me or just straight flip out telling me she wasn't tired or didn't want to nap. I cut out naps and just put her to bed earlier.
