Re: please help
I understand why you may be confused. There are directions in most OPKs that have you testing days before you expect to ovulate. I would imagine this is the reason why.
LAST cycle, my RE told me to start testing on Day 12 based on previous months giving me a 28 day cycle. I got a positive on day 13 and ovulated on day 14. I had been 28 days like clockwork for many months. But in actuality, my last complete cycle was 27 days - now everything was happening earlier for THIS cycle.
THIS cycle, I was asked to get a sonogram on day 11 to see how close to ovulation I was. The doctor was surprised that I did not get a positive on my OPK that morning based on the size of the egg but despite that, he had me come in the next day for an IUI. He anticipated I would ovulate very soon.
Yesterday morning, day 12, I got a positive on my OPK and had the scheduled IUI. According to the RE who did it, I STILL had not ovulated - you could see the egg in the ovary (pretty damn cool). I went for a second IUI today and the RE said that I had ovulated sometime between yesterday morning and this morning as the OPK logically predicted.
To sum it all up, it just goes to show you that it isn't always perfect. Cycles do change. Even if you think they are a certain length, they can surprise you and become longer or shorter..
