Please help - I need shower gift ideas

A close gf's shower is coming up and I bought a nice gift off of her registry but I'd like to do something extra special and cute for her...like a basket of something, etc.

Is there anything that you girls would really enjoy getting for your shower?

A theme basket might be really cute and you could even get some of the little items off her registry (that tend to get over-looked but are very necessary).

For example:

Feeding Basket
Bottles, nipples, cleaning brushes, bibs, smaller toys (easy to clean).

Bath Basket
Wash clothes, hooded towel, baby soap, lotions, bath toys.

Crib/Bed Basket
Sheets, blanket, stuffed animal, pjs

Annual Basket
Onesies with days of the week, Bibs for each holiday, holiday onesies

Some ideas...

A basket of children's books... the small board kind.

A blank scrapbook (no pics) of "firsts"... First Valentine's Day, First St. Patrick's Day, First Passover, First Haircut, First Bath, First day at the park, etc.

A gift certificate for professional portrtaits from Kiddie Kandids, Sears, Target, etc.

A ceramic signature platter. My GF painted a baby clothes line on one and guests filled out the center of the platter with their wishes for the babies. I'm adding the babies' names on the side and refiring it in the oven.

A basket of small bath toys for when the baby gets a bit older.

A case of diapers is always appreciated. My GF had them out on the tables of my shower with markers and asked the guests to decorate them with funny sayings. Some people wrote, "Toxic", "Does this really beat grading essays?", "Bet you could use some Starbucks now". They will provide a much needed laugh at 2 am.

ETA: I also received a basket of bibs for nearly every holiday.

How about a basket with some DVDs like Baby Einstein and some CDs like lullabies and Mozart? These were gifts I got individually, but all really liked and would be cute together. I also got a cute basket that had and elmo doll, an Elmo DVD and an Elmo book in it.

I've given this additional gift a few times and it's always gone over really well -

a onesie (or baby sweatshirt) from where the mommy to be went to college. I've also gotten one from the daddy to be's alma mater, if I find it out in time.

What about a basket with things for her...like a gc to get her nails done, a movie pass, shower gels, relaxation CD, etc. It might be nice to get her somethings that she will be able to use to get some "me" time.

I like the idea of giving a mini scrapbook and each page is a different letter of the alphabet. So the first page is A for Angel and the picture is supposed to be when the baby is 2 weeks old, then B for Bath and is for 4 weeks old, etc...once you get to Z it's the first year of the baby! Obviously the mother would just put the pictures in there after she takes them, but each page is already designed. I just made one for my little one!
