plastic vs. glass bottles
I hadn't given this much thought but this week 2 people have told me that glass bottles are the way to go, and one has even offered me her glass bottle set. I plan on breast feeding but will be at work at least 4 days a week after the first 3 months so the baby will be using the bottle pretty often. I've heard that the most nutrient rich parts of the milk can get stuck on the sides of plastic bottles, and of course there's the whole plastic issue - but I worry about glass breaking. Does anyone have some insight on this?

Re: plastic vs. glass bottles
I'm starting with glass. They are easier to clean and I heard they warm up more evenly. when the baby yets older and holds the bottles I will switch to plastic.
I actually bought a plastic and glass before I registered and ran both through the dishwasher and I didn't love the way the plastic one cleaned. Glass came out perfect.

Re: plastic vs. glass bottles
as a BTDT mom, I bought a whole new set of plastic. Glass is heavy, and of course breakable and that didn't appeal to me. I guess it's a matter of personal taste. I'm sure you can't go wrong with either one.

Re: plastic vs. glass bottles
I used glass with DD and never had an issue with them breaking- the only time one ever broke is when I dropped it in my ceramic sink.
IMO nothing, NOTHING gets clean like glass does... and I didn't mind heating the milk in the bottle since it was glass....
I plan on using glass again with this little one- and registered for a few of the smaller bottles- I already have a ton of big ones from DD.

Re: plastic vs. glass bottles
we opted for plastic mainly because it matched the advent pump i use/used.... i rarely had cleaning issues... i did have dropping issues with ds... especially with two dogs and no sleep...

Re: plastic vs. glass bottles
i have zero cleaning issues, or any other issues with my plastic born free. they are light enough that DS had no trouble holding them on his own when he was ready.

Re: plastic vs. glass bottles
I loooooved using glass bottles. I only switched to plastic when DD started to throw things. But nothing gets clean like the glass bottles...they are not really that delicate. I have dropped a few and no breakage.
I use plastic now but sometimes I get skeeved...even after I clean the bottle it still has a funky smell...KWIM..The glass bottles never did that. The only downfall is that they are heavier than plastic.

Re: plastic vs. glass bottles
I tried a bunch of different bottles with DD, glass and plastic and eventually settle on the plastic born free. I'll use them again with DS.
As an aside, if you are using a day care center when you go back to work, some will not allow glass bottles because of the breakage issues. If you use family or a sitter, this probably will not be a factor.

Re: plastic vs. glass bottles
I can't imagine using glass bottles. I think it would be a disaster waiting to happen for DH and I. I'll be going the plastic route again.

Re: plastic vs. glass bottles
I've opted for plastic... I registered for for the Playtex Ventaire Advanced. I never planned on using glass because of the weight & my clumsiness. Plus, having to lug around a few bottles in a diaper bag can get pretty annoying if they're glass bottles- way too heavy for me.
