Planning my son's first brithday party...your opinion needed

Hi everyone

My son's birthday is late October and I would really like to have the party home. I'll be inviting 50 adults and 12 kids and that's way too many people for inside my home. I do have a huge backyard and space would not be a problem. Do you think it would be too cold for an outdoor afternoon party? I did a search on average highs for that time of year and it says 65-70.

What do you think?

If I have to rule the outdoor party out please give me your recommendation for a hall or restauraunt with a private room in Suffolk (huntington, northport, commack area) Thanks!

it's a crap shoot really. But then again so is any outdoor party because of the weather. We once did an indoor/outdoor october party with a fall theme. We had a fire burning in the chiminea outside and served warm apple cider and it was fine. I think that if you have some activities going on for the kids it will keep people moving around so it won't be so bad. Do you have room inside in case people get cold or it rains just as a contingency? I also found that a lot of the woman were inside and men outside.

I do it all the time late October--rent a tent and if the day before or two days before its cold renta heater.
Get a tent with sides...no problem.

My DS is Oct 12th and knock on wood- 2 years in a row we have had beautiful weatherChat Icon ...the 1st year I had it the 1st weekend and last year the 2nd...No-one was cold and last year I bought pumpkins (like a whole lot) and scatter them around the yard for the kids to find and let them decorate them with the felt sticky pumpkin face decorations from Oriental Trading...If you do a search on wunderground.com they will give you temps and weather cond. for specific days of different years...Worse comes to worse, you could rent a tent last minute ...I plan on trying for an outdoor party again this year Chat Icon ...good luck !
