Plagio/Helmet Moms-Come in please!
Sunday we took DS for his helmet adjustment and it turns out that he's outgrown his helmet before we were finished fixing the problem completely..
They warned us this could happen since the average helmet can only correct about 9 or 10 millimeters of loss and DS has 13. His head has grown too circumferentially now and they can't open it up anymore because they're at the end of it.
Wanted to see if anyone else had experience with this happening? Also, now at this point DS helmet isn't fitting properly so today is last day he will wear it until the new one gets here.. which could be 2 weeks from now. I'm terrified of losing the huge amount of ground we gained.. in the next few weeks.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far!

No I havent.... interesting though.
I know they go through a big growth spurt which Im told was around 8mths and my DS just hit that so Im curious to see how that goes at our next visit.
2wks is not terrible.
my DS got a bad rash and we were told to remove helmet until it got better and that was a wk of him not wearing it. I too was upset by that and thought the same but in the end......it was ok and it was nice to get him out of it and get some fresh air!
ETA: sorry, hit send too fast....
Anyways, I wouldnt worry too much and now that he is older, Im sure he is on his belly more and mobile so the plagio wont get worse.

Thanks for posting!
DS is 6 months. My orthotist had us start at 4 months because his flatness was significant. DS is just starting to sit up, but can't sit up for more than a few seconds still. Praying daycare will be diligent with keeping him off his head!

Hmmmm......I haven't heard about this, but I guess it makes sense that it's possible to outgrow the helmet.
I know I am always worried whenevr Georgie has his helmet off bc "what if his head grows." Maybe they are telling you 2 weeks but the helmet may come in sonner?
Is your insurance willing to pay for a 2nd one?
I'm sorry that you need to worry about this!

I've heard of this, a few mom I met when I would take DS in for his checkups mentioned that there kids were on their 2nd helmet.
I agree with this:

I think a couple weeks without it is fine and just think-you are sooooo much closer to being done
