Place cards at shower?
Yesterday, my mom and I went to meet with the party manager at Paddy's Loft (where we are having my shower). We asked about number of tables, etc. for placecards and she said that they are totally unneccesary and to not worry about doing placecards. She said everyone always saves seats for their friends and it is just easier that way and to just trust her about it. So I said okay but now I'm feeling nervous about it.
We are going to have close to 60 people and the room is going to be pretty full so it's not like there are going to be extra seats. We have a bunch of different groups coming, my work friends, college friends, my family, Dh's family, some of my sister's friends, etc. So I'm just worried about having random seats leftover at tables and people who get there later will be left sitting with random people. I know it's not that big of a deal but for whatever reason, this is what I'm worrying about!
What are your opinions - is it better to have the seating arrangements figured out with set placecards or just let people sit where they want and figure it out on their own?
TIA

Re: Place cards at shower?
I would do place cards. In my opinion, it sometimes gets a little awkward without place cards. From a guest's perspective, I like having an assigned table and not having to worry about where I'm going to sit.

I say definitely do place cards! It's always so much easier for people to have designated seats.

TOTALLY place cards.. everytime I go to a shower/party where there aren't place cards it winds up that people pull chairs over and one table has 12371329 people and the others are scarce.

Re: Place cards at shower?
I had my shower 2 weeks ago and my mom had about 50 women there and she did placecards. It was so much easier for everyone to find a seat and sit with someone they knew

I agree ... definitely do placecards. I always prefer it and sometimes the tables get too crowded and people pull chairs over to sit with friends... it can get uncomfortable

Re: Place cards at shower?
I hate when I go to a shower and there are no place cards. It can make for a really uncomfortable situation if someone is saving seats and they get taken by mistake and you have to sit with people you dont know. You know who wants to sit with who so I think you should definitely do place cards!

Definitely do place cards! Or if you don't want to do seating arrangements, at least do table assignments. Otherwise people get so confused and it's really awkward for anyone coming that doesn't know anyone else.

Re: Place cards at shower?
I like the idea of place cards at showers and told my mom and sister I want them at mine. If you have someone that gets there late, or doesn't know too many people, they will probably feel awkward. I would definitely do place cards.
