Picketing at Waldbaums
Just stopped at my local Waldbaums and the workers were outside with picket signs...
So, being that I used to be a union girl  , I gave them a honk and a thumbs up, and then went to meat farms instead
Dh said I'm crazy, I should have went in...
What would you have done?
And does anyone know if this is at all Waldbaums/A&P's?

I passed by the Waldbaums in Glen Oaks today and saw nobody there with signs. Maybe its a Nassau or Suffolk thing? I really don't know.

They were picketing outside mine too today.
Also, being a union gal, I went over and started chatting with them. They said they've been without a contract for months and that they are fighting for raises.
They also said it is many other Waldbaums who are also picketing (they said national, but I never knew they were national. Not sure.  )

They did this at the one in Huntington/Melville yesterday on Rte. 110....I actually got a "heads up" from the lady behind the deli counter when I was getting my cheese & turkey to get out of the store quickly b/c they were going to strike and I may not be able to check out if there were no cashiers!
I grabbed my milk and pleaded my case with the check out girl!

I thknk its the trucking union that is protesting....I jsut heard something on the radio but not sure if its related.
I too, would have shopped somewhere else. I was a union gal when I worked for Waldbaums many years ago!!

As a union member, I don't cross picket lines, I give them a honk and a wave.
Our union contract is up in August so I may be picketing myself and wouldn't want to see people crossing the picket line either.
