Re: Photoshop peeps.. plssss help!!!!! 1 question!!

This would probably be the way I would do it. Select the people (w/ the lasso tool or masking tool) and then invert the selection so the background is selected. Then Desaturate your selection.
I don't have photoshop in front of me, but I'm pretty sure it would work this way.

You could do it with layers( having the people in black and white be the background) but I just selected the things I wanted in black and white and "colored" them with no color.

I don't know if that makes sense.

Re: Photoshop peeps.. plssss help!!!!! 1 question!!

I duplicate the color pic, then desaturate the copy (makes it b&w) - grab the black and white pic and drop it ON TOP OF the color pic....

now use the eraser thingy on the people, so the color comes through. Play with the levels - decrease opacity, airbrush, etc.

eta: using this method, you can really control how harsh/soft the color difference is.

I did this with sepia layered over color

Re: Photoshop peeps.. plssss help!!!!! 1 question!!

Select the whole picture with the rectangular marquee tool

then go to edit copy

Then to file new

Then to Edit paste in the new document

Then to image mode grayscale

then select the whole black and white picture with the marquee tool

then go to edit copy

and then got to edit paste on the original file with the color picture

then use the eraser to erase the black and white over the area you want the color to show through

Yup. A wedding photographer who does his own albums showed me this technique. Works like a charm!

Hmmm, I wish I had it in front of me. I think it's under "Select" or "Edit - Select"
Sorry.
You could also just select the actual background (and then no need to invert) - I just always find selecting the smaller portion to be easier.
