Re: Phentermine
it looks like that is a diet pill - i dont think it would help you get pregnant and it says it is unsafe to take while you are pregnant

Phentermine
Phentermine is a dangerous diet pill to take even when you are NOT pregnant... I didn't even think it was legal in the US anymore.

Re: Phentermine
I agree with the above posters.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you hear about this drug and getting pregnant?

Phentermine
Phentermine is a psycho stimulant drug (similar to amphetamine but not an amphetamine) that is used as an appetite suppressant by Rx only.
It is indicated in obese patients (BMI over 30) and should not be mixed with other weight loss, mood altering (anti-depressants), or diabetes medications. It should not be used for a period greater than 12 weeks.
One of its side effects is an increased libido. In combination with losing weight, and increased energy level, it has gained a reputation for increasing fertility. Ie. People feel hyper and thin, so they are in the mood to have sex.
However, it does not increase fertility, and is contraindicated in pregnant patients and those trying to conceive. So once you are trying, it's best to stop using it.
I worked for a pharmaceutical company that develops diabetes meds, and Phentermine is a hugely popular weight loss drug, so we had to be pretty knowledgable about it since many diabetics take it. It was approved by the FDA over 40 years ago, so there aren't too many new studies going on and infertility treatments are a relatively new science, so there really is no data at all on it's effects on fertility, good or bad. But it is definitely not recommended when trying to conceive.
Hope this helps you!

It's one part of Phen-Phen which is a very dangerous diet drug (I am not a huge fan of Phentermine either but I didn't want to sound judge-y to anyone who was asking). And Phen-Phen is illegal now, but due to its other component fenfluramine. That's probably why!
