PG & work
I recently changed my career & life. I quit my career & went back to school for nursing. I currently bartend & DH & I wondered if I could bartend/wait tables & be PG. What are your thoughts? In case I do get PG again & have to get a new job, I'd rather do it sooner than later. I remember being tired all the time with my last PG, but I worked full time/all day. I'm afraid of having to stand for an entire shift & working nights. Do you think I can do it or should I change jobs? TIA

I worked a desk job until I was about 7-8 months. So I can't really relate, but I have seen many pregnant women waitressing. It might not be ideal the further you get with standing, but I really don't know.

I considered this too but I have to admit, for me personally, Id never last at a job that required me to stand all shift. I was totally exhausted when I was PG and I had a desk job.
JMO, Id try to avoid it.

It really depends on you, your pregnancy, and your comfort level. I teach dance and with my son I taught until the day before my induction, which was 6 days past my due date, and was back at work three weeks later. I really didn't have much of a problem doing it and intend to do the same thing this time around- as long as I'm capable. But in fairness I don't work for 8-9 hour shifts. My longest day is 5 hours.

I don't know i I could be on my feet all day either. It depends on the pregnancy.

I agree with the others that it depends on how you are feeling while you're pregnant, but when I waitressed, I worked with someone who was pregnant and she worked until a few days before she delivered. Towards the end she went with mainly day shifts which weren't as crazy busy as an evening shift (especially on weekends) since the constant standing was starting to get to be much.

My good friend is currently 7 months pregnant and still waitressing a few days a week. I once had an aerobics instructor who kept teaching her classes up until she was 8 months along! It was unbelievable... she had no problem keeping up. It really just depends on each person... if you were used to a lot of exercise or being on your feet a lot before you were pg, it might be easier for you to continue with it.
