Personal question
Is anyone worried about pooping on the delivery table I keep thinking about it. I mentioned to DH that this sometimes happens and he was like WHAT?

Re: Personal question
I have the option of taking an enema when I get there. I think I'd rather poop on the table.
A coworker pooped with both deliveries, she said they clean it up so fast you don't even realize you went. She said her DH told her she did!

Re: Personal question
Not anymore. I didn't do it on the table with my first, but I did with my second. My DH or mom didn't mention it, but I felt myself doing it. Trsut me, it being embarrassed is the last thing on your mind, plus the nurses clean it super fast.

I think in the process you are so focused on getting the baby out that what DH sees or experiences doesn't even cross your mind.
Besides, it's what loves all about. Being able to share any and all of life's moments.

Re: Personal question
when I was in HS they had an internship at a hospital, the first time I saw a lady do that I almost . She was soo embarrassed and I was for her too, but it is true they clean it up quickly!! With this pregnancy I noticed that everything "Flows" when I go to the bathroom, I am like please God dont let that happen when I am pushing because I will just melt.

Re: Personal question
Did not poop with all three babies. I told the midwife when it was time to push that I thought I was going to go or at least have gas. she said let it all out. If it makes you feel better I will "fart with you"/ It made me laugh and then not care about it. I also asked another midwife (wound up at my delivery also) and she said poop is so no big deal. dont worry about it. or tearing. you dont feel either in the delivery. just a little sore later. (ice packs are great)

Re: Personal question
My advice to my laboring patients is don't prolong your own misery. If you get hung up on this issue you will be an ineffective pusher so unless you're looking forward to doubling your pushing time then either sh_t or get off the labor bed!

nope, not at all... I'll be so out of it by then...Besides, poop is nothing when compared to the lasting impression of an alien emerging from my hoo-ha covered in primordial slime

Re: Personal question
I was very "ugh" about pooping on the table so I requested an enema. I knew if I didn't have one I would have pooped all over. I was very constipated during my entire pregnancy and just wanted to clean my body out. I had bought an enema to give myself at home, but I just coudn't do it. I was so glad I had the nurse do it for me.

Re: Personal question
I gave myself an enema(per my video) before I left for the hospital. Worked like a charm, no poopies

Re: Personal question
At this point, I don't care if I poop on the table.
While I was giving birth the first time, I had no idea how to push. They told me, push like you need to have a bowel movement.
So, if that is the way you have to think about pushing, and you actually do poop...I just don't want to know about it.

Re: Personal question
Heard about this as well in Jenny McCarthy's book "Belly Laughs."
That rules out the video camera on delivery day!

Re: Personal question
I'm POSITIVE I will
I keep warning my hubby "yep, gonna poop, then tell me I'm sexy"
Once after a movement he was heading to the bathroom and I said "Hey great time to get a whiff of a pre-show for delivery" .. he didn't get it until he walked in and walked back out to laugh at me. I said he tried to 'walk out' during delivery I'd break his bones.
Poop is poop but the kid coming as a result is worth it.

Not at all worried about this!! I guess because I work in a hospital and poop is just a regular occurance no one even thinks twice about it. I'm more nervous about what everything is going to feel like.
