People are gross
I just ran out to grab lunch, and on my way out of the store, there was a lady leaning over the vat's of self serve soup. Her face was so close to the inside of the vat with the ladle in her hand, that it looked to me as if she was tasting the soup 
It was so quick that I loudly said 'did you just TASTE the soup?" She looked up and said 'no, I was smelling it, mind your ******* business'
I said that there was no reason for her to be 'smelling' soup THAT close to the inside much less from the ladle that OTHER people will be using after her. She went on to ***** me out about minding my own business.
Thank GOD there was another lady who witnessed it and was agreeing with me to how disgusting this whole scene was.

Yuck. Any type of self serve food is going to be filled with germs. And lots of gross stuff happens in food prep that you don't see : ) I try not to think about it.

Yeah self serve, salad bars, buffets, all give me the skeeves.
It's bad enough what my or may not go on in the kitchen while prepping- i don't need the added skeeve of the public now touching it

Soup freaks me out even when they serve it for you because you can't see inside the vat. I once saw a pencil fall out from behind the ear of the server and into the soup (which she saw happen) and she still tried to give it to me. I was like are you serious?!

Even worse are make-up testers in stores. It always amazes me that anyone would actually try them out. I get skeeved just looking at them. I actually left a make-up trial when I was getting married because the make-up artist was going to put the make-up on me that was accessible to the general public to "try out". Ack!
