Pelvic Sono
Hi,
Doc is sending me for a pelvic sono (to check for cyst, endometriosis, etc) . Does anyone know if this is an external or internal exam? Just trying to prepare myself. TIA

Whenver I've had it done they do it over the belly and then internally.

Did they tell you to drink a gallon of water and not to pee for at least an hour? That's external. The internal is so much easier/less painful because your bladder doesn't have to be full. I hope it's internal for you.
One time they planned on an external for me but I threw up the water before my appointment  so they did internal and after that I'd beg for internal instead. But that was over 10 years ago so maybe the internal is more common now (my last several have all been internal except one, but that included a kidney sono).

Yes, I was told to drink 24oz of water an hour before appt.
