Pediatrician question
Does your child's Dr have Sunday hours? When I was choosing a Dr for DS, the Dr told me that they have an on call Dr for holidays and Sundays. Their website says the same thing. I just called to see if DS could be seen tomorrow and the answering service told me to take him to a walk-in and that they don't have office hours tomorrow. Is this the norm? The woman was so short with me on the phone that I didn't even have a chance to question it.

Re: Pediatrician question
My office has Sunday hours in the morning but only for sick visits.
If you are in the Wantagh area, we took our DS to Prohealth Pediatric urgent care on a Sunday and they were absolutely wonderful. We liked them better than our regular office.

Re: Pediatrician question
Thank you all for replying. I think DS has pink eye. Is that something my Dr should be willing to see us for? I get that it isn't exactly an emergency but I didn't expect the answering service to tell me to go to a walk-in.

Re: Pediatrician question
For something like that a walk in like PM peds is just as good as your ped. Your ped won't tell you or do anything different. To me, a doctor is a doctor. Get me in, get me diagnosed, get me a script for meds. None of them walk on water IMO. All interchangeable.

Pediatrician question
Yes, my pediatrician has Sunday hours -- I believe they are a limited time block (i.e. 10-2ish) and are only for emergency sick visits, meaning you can't book a wellness visit for a Sunday.

I definitely don't think this doctor is anything special. I will take DS to a walk-in first thing in the AM. I am just kinda pissed about this situation because when I was choosing a doctor, one of their selling points was that there would always be a doctor on call and they have Sunday hours. This is the first time I ever had to call and they tell me to take him to a walk-in. They didn't even have a recommendation for one in the area. So I just didn't know if this was standard practice.

Re: Pediatrician question
Can someone recommend a walk-in in the Wading River area?
Also, looking for a new pediatrician in the same area if anyone can recommend one with Sunday hours. Thanks!

I ended up taking him to a walk-in. The only issue for me is that the nearest walk-in place that takes our insurance is a 25 min drive. So I am definitely looking to change doctors now.

Pediatrician question
Ours does not. And Saturdays, they are only open till 12 and only for sick visits.
ETA: PM Pediatrics is like our second pediatrician. We love our doctor and we love PM Peds so lack of weekend hours has not been a deterrent for us. We use our ped when they are open and if they're not, we go to PM Peds.
