PCOS....when did you get tested for it?

i am convinced i have PCOS, but have never been tested. i have majority of the symptoms. with my first pregnancy, the girl doing the sonogram was amazed i got pregnant without taking clomid or anything bc i had sooo many cysts.

we plan on TTC asap, but i was wondering when do most doctors test you for this....when you request it or after a certain amount of time TTC?

also, my insurance says you have to be TTC for 6 months before they cover any special treatments....how do you prove you were trying for 6 months?

Most docs can sidestep those pesky insurance rules, depending on your case.

I didnt get AF for over 3 months so I went to the ob. She saw the cysts on my ovaries and did bloodwork confiming the diagnosis. This was before I decided to TTC. The bloodwork is pretty simple.

Why do you say you think you have PCOS? what are your symptoms?

before i went on the pill and when im off the pill ih have long cycles, over 3 months and when i get AF its very heavy, to the point where i dont want to leave the house.

hair, ugh....big problem lol

i gain weight when i go off the pill, even with excercise.

i learned with my first sonogram that i had tons of cysts.

I took a break from birth control about 4 years ago after being on the pill for 6 years. Then my period stopped coming for months and months, so finally I went to dr and they did bloodwork and diagnosed me. I was put right back on the pill lol

I prob would have never known I had pcos if I didn't stop the pill that one time. Are your periods regular? That is the first and biggest sign of pcos

i was tested when we first started trying..i had a lot of the symptoms and knew i had it..the absentee period was a huge give away lol

if u have any concerns u do i would def get tested and find out

I was tested about a year before we even started trying...we weren't even married yet. My period was so irregular so my gyno sent me to have bloodwork done. It came back that I had PCOS so as soon as we decided we wanted to start trying I went back to the RE right away.

I was diagnosed when I was 13 due to my symptoms

i went of BCP to TTC. didnt get AF for ~90 days. OB gave me provera and suggested i "may have" PCOS. a few months later my cycles were highly irregular (~40 days and then one that went on 60 days that ended with provera) and i decided to see an RE when my OB gave me clomid. so it was almost exactly 6m of TTC when the RE dx me with PCOS, but by then I pretty much knew i had it anyway. during those 6m I only had one ovulatory cycle. the only reason i waited 6m to see the RE was because I had one ovulatory cycle in the middle so i thought maybe my body was regulating yeah right...
