PCOS
For those of you who have PCOS, how did you know you had it?

Re: PCOS
I had REALLY long cycles (one was over 100 days). I have learned that when it comes to PCOS if you are not seeing an RE and just seeing your OBGYN you REALLY need to be your own advocate. My doctor did not want to test for PCOS because I didn't have any other symptoms other than the long cycles. So I demanded that she do blood tests and ultrasound. Turns out I was right. At least now I know what is up and when we are REALLY ready to aggressively TTC I will be heading right to the RE.

Re: PCOS
VERY long cycles (sometimes I would have only 2-3 periods a year), no positive opks, and I also had the darken skin around my neck. Went for blood work and sure enough I had it.

PCOS
long cycles....hair loss (scalp).... extra hair growth in places you don't want hair to grow...skin tags....cysts...there are so many symptoms but any one of them could be diagnosed away because of something else. If your TTC and you know you have it, you can try a few months with your regular OBGYN, but you'll be better off seeing a RE early on, IMO

Re: PCOS
i noticed i was gaining weight and it was going to my stomach and i was trying to loose it and it just wasnt happening..my cousin has it so i understand a lot of it. i went to the RE and she took a crap load of blood i thought i was going to pass out.
turns out that ONLY my testeosterne is high. that is the only thing i have. periods fine sugar no wierd hair. i have slight pcos.
i think this is different for everyone and you have to push for it with the doctor.

PCOS
I didn't know at all. I had very long, irregular cycles so my gyno sent me for bloodwork. It was then I found out.

PCOS
i had extremely long or non-existent cycles after coming off BCP. i would use OPKs and temp at the same time - i would get like 5 days worth of + OPKs and never ovulate. a week or two later the same thing would happen. over and over again until i eventually ovulated (like CD40+) or i would go to the doctor and get provera. after my OB failed to dx me but did give me clomid i went to an RE who dx'd it officially after bloodwork showing that my LH and testosterone levels were sky high.

Re: PCOS
I always had irregular cycles. Went for annual bloodwork, my levels were off. The doctor had me come in for a sonogram, which showed the "classic ring of pearls" on both ovaries.
