PCOS?

Is it possible to have regular periods, and EWCM, and still have PCOS?

I have never been diagnosed with PCOS, and have never had any problems that I know of.

I did have one really long cycle in the last five years, and I thought it was just a freak thing.

However, I have noticed that I have more hair then I would like in certain places. It is so Chat Icon I find that I have to have my upper lip waxed more often recently. Also I have fine hair between my breasts and around my belly button. I know that can be a symptom of PCOS. It is really frustrating. I am a waxing maniac.

Any advice?

Re: PCOS?

I am not a doctor, so surely to get a definitive answer you would need to make an appointment..... but......... I do NOT think it sounds like PCOS to me! Chat Icon If your periods are normal, I think you are in the clear.

The excess hair could be a symptom of other things though so if it's something you're worried about, I'd make an appointment just to ask about that. Is it possible you have always had that hair and are just more aware of it now?

PCOS is a SYNDROME which means there is a cluster of different symptoms. Having just one of the symptoms will not give you a PCOS diagnosis- but I am not a doctor! Chat Icon I am a school teacher Chat Icon Like I said, if you are worried, see a doctor regardless...... but it's probably nothing. It IS possible that you're just noticing it more now for some reason! Good luck!! Chat Icon

Re: PCOS?

It is possible to have PCOS I guess - I have PCOS and I was ovulating regularly and had normal-length cycles. But I was also managing it with drugs for several years.

There are lots of causes of hirsutism (excess hair) besides PCOS. If you don't like the hair, you might try licorice root. Excess hair is caused by testosterone and the licorice supposedly reduces the testosterone in your system. I haven't tried it though, so I'm not sure.

The good thing is that if you don't have PCOS, you can always try laser hair removal. With the PCOS it's not permanent but if it's something else, it may be a good solution for you.
