Pavers around Pool
Does anyone have any insight on installing pavers on concrete and not waiting until the pool settles?
Fernando came last nite - DH liked him and his quote (and he thanks all the LIF ladies for keeping him busy )
but he won't instaill over a slab and said we should wait 6 months to install.and do crushed/sand, etc..
I asked people who recently put pools in and both installed over concrete right after the pool went in - but their pools are new - so I don't know if they will have trouble in a few years?

We had the pavers installed on concrete right after the pool went in. This is our third summer with the pool, and we have had no problems. Good luck!

Friends of ours put pavers in right away and now have some problems as the ground is settling( pavers are sinking in on one side. When my parents had their pool redone, they were told to wait until the following summer to do pavers or concrete. Their pool is now almost 20 years and the concrete looks brand new. When we do our pool I think I am going to do the pavers the following spring.

Do you know if your friends just did the pavers or did a concrete Slab then pavers?
Of course the guy today said we should do a slab of concrete first, either way I think I'm waiting until the spring.

Trulys Contracting Corp installs immediately. They did my parent's house. They install a concrete pilings system then pour concrete and then the pavers go over the concrete. The other good things are they offer a free 10 year warranty against settlement and they set the pool coping in mortar, not glue. You can check out pictures of their system on their website. Fm for their info if you are interested.

I was just going to call him in for our inground pool but we will only do a poured concrete base.....ughhh

Fernando is coming in April. We decided to wait and let the ground settle and go thru a freeze cycle. The thing that made us not want to do a concrete base is that if you have and issue and need to access the pool plumbing, you are drilling thru concrete instead of just picking up the pavers. Fernando is not doing a concrete base for us

He is coming Tuesday. I'd rather a concrete base even if it means cutting through concrete. My neighbors yard completely collapsed with just aggregate/sand. They had to redo a 25k job. We also waited it out during the fall winter to let everything settle.

Pavers around Pool
our pool has pavers on crushed stone but it allows easier to access to pool pipes if problem
however, if I had to do it again I would not put in pavers they get so hot in the summer - I would look into something called cool concrete

Yes they can install special sono tubes(?) in order to do pavers right away. We did travertine on a concrete base and that is what they did. We also waited through the winter months for the ground to settle, we dug pool in December and didnt do stone until late spring.
I know someone who had pavers done without concrete and within 2 years had to have them pulled up and redone. So I would definitely not go that route.

we spent all summer researching installers and methods for what would work best with our budget and type of pool and patio
