Passport for Toddler and changing name on mine?
Anyone know the process for getting a Passport for my almost 2 y.o. (will be 2 when we travel) and changing the name on mine?
If I change the name on my passport do I need a whole new book and card?
We are Traveling mid August. Do you think I have enough time?
ETA: Actually, I am now wondering if I need to change my passport name at all if I book my tickets in my maiden name. My license of course has my married name on it though. Anyone know?

The name on your passport has to match the name on your air ticket. If you already booked your ticket in your maiden name then don't change your passport. If you booked it in your married name then change it.
Yes you have time and if you want to be sure pay the little extra for a rush -- I had mine in less than 5 days.
As for your son I am not sure. Go online the information the website provides is pretty clear.

Re: Passport for Toddler and changing name on mine?
Thanks.
I actually didn't book the ticket yet, but I just assumed I needed to change my name. Now I am realizing it costs $140 just to change my name on the passport, I'd rather not do it if I don't have to....
I found all the forms online and where to go. Anyone else have any insight on the name change? Does it matter?

The State department doesn't know or care what your marital status is at all.
They only care what the name on the passport is compared to the ticket.
I got married in 2007 and left the country several times since then and have yet to chance my name. This year my passport expires and I will finally be doing the name change when I renew. It's better to do it this way because the name change doesn't extend the expiration date of your passport. So if your passport expires in 3 yrs, you will have to pay for the renewal anyway even after paying the name change this year.
So if you don't want to spend the money, just keep booking the tickets in your maiden name.

I always just buy my tickets in my maiden name... then it will match my passport.
Passport for your toddler is the same as getting one for yourself. You just need I think you and your DH or the baby's father to sign the papers I think. I don't remember b/c I got Carlies at like 4 months old. But it was a simple process.
