painting aluminum siding

So the house we are buying has green aluminum siding. I heard we can paint it until we have the money to totally put good siding on the house....
Is it worth it to paint the aluminum immediatly or try and do the siding within the year??????
We have no idea how much it would cost to do siding on the house but I heard 200-300 to paint the aluminum. Any info would be helpful??? TIAChat Icon

My Dad painted his years ago.

He had light green with dark green shutters as wellChat Icon

He has a fairly large house with a porch, dormer, etc so there was a lot to paint and a lot of detail work as well. He did it all himself over a two week vacationChat Icon so I'm no help with the price.

I'm assuming if you hire a painter they will spray most of the paint on, it will go much faster.

DEpending upon the size of your house vinyl can costs about 5K or so on average but having it painted, especially two stories, is not going to run cheap either.

You might be better off just waiting or putting up the vinyl.

$200 -300 seems REALLY cheap. something HAS to be wrong w/ that price. my master bdrm (13 x15) is $500 (2.5 days) and he gave me a major discount (i know for a fact that he usually charges $450 a day).

the exterior of my house (wood shingles that must be brush painted) would run around $7k-8k. i have a ch col. i would assume yours (even if sprayed) would cost a couple of thousand.

Hi, this is the Philby. Definately not $300. If that is the quoted price pass on it anyway because it will not be a quality job. Only my opinion but I do not recommend painting any siding products except for wood. Aluminum and plastic cannot create a long term bond with primer because they are not very porous surfaces. The siding would first need to be "roughed up" with sandpaper for the primer to create a bond. Even after the week it would take to sufficently do this if one small area is not primedproperly the paint will peel off. Try doing one side of the home at a time. Most do it yourselfers do it this way.
