Paint Color Help (Long & with Pics)
I am in the process of picking paint colors. I am stuck on the living room color. I am painting the main hallways & staircase in Benjamin Moore Bone White (it is a very light beige white color)
Here is a pic of the living room with the old owners stuff. (the popcorn ceilings, wallpaper, paneling, and rugs are all gone). I have red oak floors. I have a splanch and the living room sits on it's own floor - stairs lead down to the entry hall, and stairs lead up to the bedrooms.
I am going to have the couches set up the same way. Large green couch along the long wall (show to the right in the 1st pic pic) and the smaller striped couch under the windows there. In the corner by the bay window I will have a green wingbacked recliner. I am torn between keeping the Bone White flowing through that room or choosing another color. In my apartment I have adams gold behind the dark couch and eucalyptis behind the lighter loveseat, but I don't think I want those two colors in that room - I don't think yellow paint would look nice with the Bone White in the stairway and besides the green would have to be on the small wall.
Any ideas on a paint color that would work with both couches or should I stick with Bone White in the living room?
Sorry this is so long winded, but this is the only room I am having difficulty with figuring out what to do.

Re: Paint Color Help
I'm thinking a light Sage maybe for the LR. I would do a different color then what you are going to put in the hallway and staircase area. It would be a nice color contrast.

ITA. I agree with the sage color, too. OR, you can get a darker shade of the bone white. I'm not too familiar with BM paint colors, but i know in home depot, the color swatches for Behr paint give you five variations of one color... the first being the lightest and the last being the darkest.

can you think of any other color besides green? I am not sure how I would like a light sage-y green behind the dark sage-y couch, you know?
I was thinking like an eggplant color, but I'm afraid it might be too dark. I have a huge pine tree in front of the bay window and my backyard has a covered awning that is over the back window, so the room is dark - not a lot of natural light.

Things are going well. We ripped out all the paneling, ripped down all the wallpaper and scraped the popcorn off all the ceilings. We have someone there now who is skimcoating everything. Once done, we will prime, rip up the rugs, refinish the floors then paint. It's a long process, but it starting to look really good.
I've had to be out there every day so I've been working on my jungle, I mean garden every day I work in small sections and so far I have all my veggies planted and some pretty roses, hydrangeas and annuals in.
I have to take the camera home and upload some befores & afters of the garden. The house is still in 'during' mode so no good pics. It looks worse before it gets better.

I didn't have time to down pics, but go onto BM site and play around with these colors with the Bone White color. Maybe you will like some of these.
If you like any, go pick up some swatches of these and see if you like it at home with the bone white and your couches.
Texas Rose (brick color) Soft Cranberry (light brick color) Mudslide (light brown/red brick color)
Dry Sage Gray Mirage
Even try a gray green color. Maybe you would like that. Not sure how that would look with your couches though. Croquet Raindance
All these colors look nice on the screen together, but you might not like them with you furniture.
HTH a little! GL!

I actually have the color wheel .. those are all great selections. I like Texas Rose & Mudslide .. there is about 10 strips from texas rose on that could all work (pinky chocolates to reddish browns). Here are two more that are more 'brown' that looked good. * new england brown * autumn brown
There is a grayish-purple "lavendar lipstick" that is nice too - may be too different and colorful for me though.

We have a gray-green in our LR - it's BM Herbal Escape. There's a cell phone pic in my album but I haven't seen it in person yet.
How about a BM Smokey Taupe? Or another brown-beige color?

I agree with a taupe color would be great and it will also give it a nice contrast as well.

Have you seen the Saybrook Sage by BM?? It's lovely. I am not sure I would do that Bone White color, i'm not a fan. How about a maroon color to completely change it up??
