Over 450 "hate" emails in my inbox....
I work for a travel company and recently we advertised in the Advocate - a gay magazine.
Well, some "family rights" group got a hold of my email address and decided to start sending hate email to me and some others at my company.
I have over 450 emails with such pleasant subject lines as:
"You are going to hell"
"I hope you rot."
"I will never use your f@g company again."
"Does the A in your name stand for AIDS?"
"Sodomite - I hope you die."
#1 - I am in training - NOT PR. I have NOTHING to do with these ads!!
#2 - Aren't these more hateful than advertising? Shouldn't a family rights group NOT condemn me to hell and be so hateful??
I really really want to write back to some of these jerks and tell them off, but PR told us to ignore them!!
I respect everyone's rights to their opinion but this is stepping over a line in my book.

Animals. Ignore them Lauren, and set up your spam filters to get rid of that kind of crap. Your tech department should be doing that right now anyway.

It comes from all sorts of emails - hotmail, yahoo, aol, etc. They can't figure out a way to filter yet.
I've just been dragging them into a separate folder to keep in case we need the records.
I'm being a good corporate girl and ignoring them!!

I was watching a documentary on HBO about gay marriage and they had people who were gay and not gay that were for it. BUT the also had people who were against it there. The people who are agaisnt it were singing amazing grace and all this stuff. Saying the
"gay lovers"were going to hell.
Id rather go to hell then be so predjudice!
There was one poor woman who was gay and wanted to get married to her girlfriend and her parent were on the other side fighting against it I couldnt imagine being like that to my child.
I LOVE MY GAY COUSINS JUST THE SAME!!!!

That is exactly why I get upset if people use the word "fag" even as a "joke" to use the word "gay" to mean "stupid, bad, not fun, etc." Words are the seed of hatred. I'm sorry you have to go through this!
PS: If they think gay people are so bad, why are they reading the advocate? They're looking for a target. You would think these family rights people wouldn;t have so much free time on their hands. they shoujld be doing something cvonstructive or spending time with their FAMILY

Those people are crazy!
And how hypocritical of them... isn't it supposed to be "love thy neighbor" and "God created all of us in his own image and likeness". I'm using their "book" here.
I can't stand that... just as bad as those radical pro-lifers who KILLED doctors that perform abortions.
Let me guess do most of these people live in the RED states?

Hahah with the red states. The thing is you can be a repnlican, or you can be a conservative christian. Fine. You don't believe in evolution?ok The earth is 6000 years old, fine. Only heterosexual marriages are blessed by god? ok, think that all you want, But once you start victimizing innocent people (even in emails), or start killing people, or threatening them with hell,, then there's a real problem. We're fighting a war abroad, some say against extremism, when we have our fair share of extremists in this country.

ditto. It amazes me how these people obviously "search" papers like the Advocate, etc to know that you advertise there.
It really is a shame. People think they have the right to force their opinions of a "happy" life onto others.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this! It is amazing that there are still people out there with so much hatred. I'm sure these are the same families that years ago were against women and minorities voting!. Welcome to 2005 people, the world around them is changing.
