OK to answer questions:
- if we did it ourselves we would still be in demo and probably divorced by now, so no, we hired a contractor. Although DH redid most of their work every night when he got home.
- I designed the backsplash myself 
- cabinets are Ikea. The contractor made up the order for us based on our design. Then it was all delivered. There were a few pieces missing and all that but it worked out ok.
- we did radiant heat BTW. Electric, not too $$$ and I think I will LOVE it in winter.
- The tile floor I love since we have a big black dog - it hides his hair very well
- we got the granite from Exotic Stones and Designs in E. Farmingdale -- BEST price around. Very nice and the countertop was ready within a weeek of measuring.
I think that's it -- I wouldn't recommend the contractor, although they are recommended by Ikea. I basically designed the kitchen. DH redid a lot of their work - esp. electic.
ETA -- A fellow LIFer's brother installed the backsplash -- Jenheartsrob's brother. He was very nice and did a good job. Him I would recommend.

Can I ask you was it Traemand who did the install??
You can PM me if you would rather. I just had them out to measure and was not so happy with their design so I am reworking it.

Absolutley Gorgeous! I have the "Lazy Susan" cabinet too (I have pretty much the same kitchen as you/layout),..Love it! Amazing Job.
