Our *almost* finished kitchen/dining renovation. (before & after pics)
SO after almost half a year of renovation, (DH did most of the work himself, with some friends help...you know how that goes) we're FINALLY almost done with this reno!
So I thought I would share some of DH's hard work! I think he did a fabulous job and I'm so pleased with how it's all turned out. It was a long road... especially since I had to entertain a 1 year old AND I was in the third trimester of pregnancy for most of it! lol
Here are some before photos.....
BEFORE: Taken from the living room looking towards the dining/kitchen area.
BEFORE: Another angle of the wall taken from the living room.
BEFORE: Kitchen was original to the house... over 50 years old. There was a small peninsula that came out from the left side. It was already removed before this photo was taken.
BEFORE: Another angle... you can see better where the peninsula was.
BEFORE: We had already started taking the wall down, so the fridge was moved over blocking the old doorway entrance into the kitchen. But I'm sure you get the idea. The fridge was on the right side of that doorway.
AFTER: Living room looking into dining/kitchen area. Wall gone. Doorway to old kitchen closed off. Still need to do the molding throughout the house. We'll be going with white molding--eventually. lol
AFTER: Another angle looking into dining/kitchen area from living room. Table is pushed to the wall so our kids having maximum play space since we have a small house--space is limited.
AFTER: Kitchen. We still need to do the backsplash -- I'm thinking some sort of glass tile -- something with color to add a little brightness to the space. We also need to do the quarter-round molding where the cabinets meet the tile floor. Also, we went from electric to gas.
AFTER: Other side of the kitchen. We still need to order our stainless fridge. I never had a dishwasher until now!! It's my FAV!!! :D
AFTER: A wide shot of the whole space.
Granite. I dont remember the name. If you'd like to know, just FM me and I can find out the name for you.

Even though our house still has the same square footage, it really makes the house seem a lot more spacious having that wall gone.

What color do you think I can get away with in the kitchen for the glass tile backsplash?? From the other pics you can kinda see the color scheme in our house. (beiges, blues, browns)
I really would like to do something in the lighter blue family but not sure if that's gonna be too much of a contrast from the other colors in the kitchen.
Anyone have any suggestions??

My husband did it... it took him very little time to do, and he is by no means an expert at any of this stuff. Kinda learns as he goes.

its really easy to do yourself. get a kit from Home depot, it comes with all the tubes you need.
