Organic milk

OK, so I decided to give DD organic milk because I am afraid of the hormones and antibiotics in regular milk. I know the hormone part may be a bit controversial, but as a pharmacist, I really think he antibiotic part is a concern.

Anyway, when I was in the store yesterday buying milk, I saw on the label for Farmland Dairies that it says, "No hormones or antibiotics added". So, if they're not using these chemicals, is there a reason to continue using organic milk? Does anybody know if there is a difference other than the hormones and antibiotics? Farmland is certainly alot cheaper than the organic, and if it is just as good, I will start saving my money now.

Re: Organic milk

I was wondering the same thing because that is my concern as well. I think the difference might be in what they feed the cows they get the milk from making sure they aren't eating anything full of pesticides or chemicals.

I think when it comes to organic milk it means more that the grain fed to the cows are organic and nothing artifical is added to their feed. I bought it once and then I said forget. I buy Farmland whole milk since it does say no hormones added.

Yes. Hormone and antibiotic free refer to how the cows are treated. Organic refers to the grain fed to the cows. In theory, a hormone and anitbiotic free cow does not have to be fed organic grain... pesticides can still be used.

Re: Organic milk

I use Farmland and it's only $2.23a gallon at Sam's. If you are concerned only about the hormones and antibiotics, then I would just use it. If you care about what the cows eat, then stay with organic.
