OPK with FMU?
I am going onto month 8. DH and I are doing OPK for the fourth time. I am having a hard time with holding urine for 4 hours. CBE digital instructions say you can use FMU. Do you all agree? And if so is this true for all OPK's, I only have 3 more sticks than switching to First response non-digital. Thanks.

You can't use FMU with the line OPKs unless you have no other option. The LH is metabolized in your urine later in the day so if you test in the morning you can miss your surge.

Re: OPK with FMU?
I use the CBE digitals and always use FMU. The line tests never worked for me so i cant help you with that - but ive heard they are less sensitive and thats why they recommend you test in the afternoon when your surge is highest.

Re: OPK with FMU?
It's hard to say. In the past I have gotten a positive OPK with FMU. But I tend to test twice a day when close to O. This month, I tested in the am and it was negative. I tested 5 hours later and it was positive. I would think since the instructions say it's okay, it can be detected with FMU, but i personally feel more comfortable checking in the afternoon.
ETA: AH, didn't know that digitals were a little different. You learn something every day. I was referring to line tests above.

Re: OPK with FMU?
Ok maybe I can hold it for three hours. Any opinions if it's better to test in the afternoon or night? I may go out for a drink later so I did it now. LOL Plus I work in the car, run in and out all day when it's cold, I feel like I have to pee more often. Thanks for all the advice

Re: OPK with FMU?
I got positives with FMU before I started seeing my RE because I hated the 4hr. hold. (Mine was more like a 3 hr. or even a 2 hr. hold.)
When I mentioned this to my RE he said that FMU is fine and seemed surprised that women actually went through all the effort of testing in the afternoon afer a 4 hr. hold.
I got pregnant 2.5 mos. after I first went to my RE (not including the chemical I had) so I totally trust his judgment.
