OPK testing?

I am so sorry for all the questions. As you can tell this is our first month starting

Today I purchased the first response ovulation test strips however

I ended my period on Sunday/Monday-8/9-8/10. It started thursday 8/6----in the instructions it said to start testing right after the last day of my period
but because of some circumstances I couldn't do that.

Do you think it is okay to start testing tonight or tomorrow or do you think it is too late and I missed my ovulation/LH surge opportunity and I should keep the test for next month?

Re: OPK testing?

I have read that, although possible, it is unlikely that you ovulate before CD10 (if your period started on 8/6, that was CD1 and today would be CD8).

Also, do you know how long your cycles usually are? I believe the OPK's come with a little chart to tell you when to start testing based on your normal cycle length. Something like "if your cycle is 28 days, start testing on CD10" or something like that.

I would just start testing today!!!

Re: OPK testing?

unless you have a very short cycle, you should be fine to start testing today. as the PP mentioned, they usually have a chart on the instructions that tells you when to start testing based on how long your cycles typically are. as long as your cycles are usually longer than 24 days, you should still catch your surge. good luck! The only problem with knowing my cycle is that I was on birth control and I just stopped it this week so I am not sure what my "real" cycle is. I think I am just going to start testing tomorrow and hope all goes well.
Thank you for all the responses! You guys are great!

I would definitely just start testing now and test everyday until you get a + OPK. Note, since you just got off BC, you MIGHT have a long first cycle (you are likely to have a normal length cycle as well, but just in case), so I would keep testing until you get your period, or a BFP! If you do get your period without getting a positive OPK, then just make a mental note to start testing earlier in your cycle next month. Chat Icon
