Re: opk

I believe most OPK say to start at CD10, if you have 'regular' cycles... so I would say you are good to start.

Re: opk

Yep, in the right window. Depending on how long your cycle usually is, you could get a positive in a few days, or it could be longer if you usually have longer cycles. Don't get discouraged like I did my first month using them. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: opk

This was my first month using them!! I started testing on CD10 and I got my smile on CD12!! So just keep testing every day.....I hope this helps! I don't know how long my cycles are so I use the "Deanna's Plan"

this is the short version!!!

*Start "trying" every other night starting on CD 8!

*Buy 10 OPK's

*Begin OPK on CD 10

*When positive, "try" that night plus two additional night in a row

*Skip one night, then do one last "try"

*Take HPT 15DPO, if your AF has not started

*If your test never goes positive (OPK), continue "trying" every other night until CD 35 then do HPT if AF has not begun.

You said you were new to this...So am I so I hope this helps!!! GOOD LUCK!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: opk

Thanks so much for all your help. Will hope for a positive tomorrow!

I like Deanna's Plan!! Think we will have to try that out. I never knew there was so much involved in TTC. I should have "tried" before I actually wanted to start " trying" lol

Re: opk

I would start on CD 10. If you have a 28 day cycle. If you have irregular cycles you should either start earlier/late depending on how long/short they are.

When you get your smiley Chat Icon 3 days after...

Re: opk

This was my first month using OPK, too. I actually started on CD13. Tested CD 14, 15, and 16 and decided that I just bought cheap tests. I usually ovulate around CD 14 or 15. However, I never had a thermal shift so I thought maybe I just didnt ovulate this month. Well, around CD 18, I started feeling cramping, so I decided to test again on CD19 (this time at lunchtime, instead of after work). The line was definitely darker...almost as dark as the control line. So we BDed. I tested on CD20 just to make sure I didn't get a darker line and I DID! This is the latest I have ever O'ed. I guess I was very stressed this month.
At any rate, just keep testing. You will get a postive eventually. Just make sure you don't drink too much water or the test won't detect your LH surge.
