OPINIONS PLEASE
if you have a pre-authorized checking acct. w/ let's say ABC Insurance. And you know that you are in the process of changing the accts, you call the office rep and make them aware of it but also tell them that you are going to call them back to let them know when the acct gets settled....and you don't call. The acct is then charged w/ a $35 fee, will you blame the insurance company. Or do you take responsibility and say I never called them to give them any other updates so it's my fault.
I just got into a HUGE fight w/ of our clients over this. He said it was my fault that I didn't call him to remind him of his acct??? Are you Efin' kidding me...I'm supossed to babysit your cr@p??????????????????? I don't think so!!!! I am wrong?

I have gotten to the point where I don't rely on anyone to do anything when it comes to money but myself or DH. So I would have followed up, and would have taken the hit on the fee, and been mad at myself for not following up.

The insured got so pi$$ed because I said "If I were you I would have called the comapny to notify them asap. and not wait to get a phone call". What an azz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, not the insurance company's fault. They have to pull the premium and if they aren't given any new information, they can't assume that the bank account information has actually changed.

Heres a story similair...This guy called and his physical therapy claims took a penalty because he didnt authorize the service with us before hand, and he asked me what he could do. I said well try appealing and say you never got a benefit booklet. He said No, I have the benefit book RIGHT HERE
I said DID YOU READ IT? He said, Its 76 pages long, no of course I didnt read it. I said Sir, Im sorry but we print them TO BE READ...and if you dont, then your responsible.
ONG he freaked out on me. Saying we should have CALLED him after the first visit to let him know he didnt pre certify with us.
Yeah um...OK...we have 5.5 MILLION members and we are gonna call you because your too lazy to read the book we sent you( which has a table on contents, and an index etc.(
It just goes to show how people LOVE to place the blame on anyone but themselves.

Nope, it would be my fault for not following up and giving them the new info. Had the person given the new info and it not gotten switched then it would be the company's fault. But as you wrote it, this guy has no one to blame but himself. Sorry he yelled at you.
