operation no pacifier.... night 1...
DD is only 10 months, but she dropped her pacifier outside of the crib today when I put her down for her nap... I heard it hit the floor, and I just left it there... she whined for a few seconds, and fell asleep.
So.. tonight.. I decided to put her to bed WITHOUT it... she simply turned over, snuggled her stuffed animal.. and FELL ASLEEP!!!!!
Is this the end of the pacifier for us? Or just a lucky night?!?!?!

Re: operation no pacifier.... night 1...
OMG, Get rid of it now. This is one of those If I knew then what I know now things....We are on night 3 with no binky here, DD is 2. Well the first night took her 3 hours to fall asleep, yesterday she passed out because of no nap and tonight we just hit the 2 1/2 hour mark. I can't believe how much "I" miss that binky. Get rid of it now!!! I do have to give my DD credit though, she has done amazing the past few days, never even asking for it, because the Binky Fairy took them, but bedtime is horrible!!
I wish I had gotten rid of that thing at 10 months, before the real attachment to it began!!

WOW, I am soooooo jealous! That sounds like great news for you!
My DD is 14 months and is showing no signs of wanting to give it up. My ped. said that it's a telltale sign of how difficult it'll be to take it away is whether they actively suck on it or not. Some kids just hold it in their mouth, and if that's the case they are usually more willing to trade it for something else. My DD, however, is a sucker.

You are taking it away early so it will be easier for you. We took it away from DS at 9 months. Took 3 nights of whinny for about 30-45 minutes and it was done. One less thing to worry about.

I am sooooo jealous! Your DD is doing GREAT, I would definitely keep up with it since she seems to be soothing herself to sleep.
