Open Houses

My husband thinks they are a waste of time. His motto is if someone wants it they'll ask to see it. What does everyone think?

Re: Open Houses

This is the only way we are looking right now is at open houses. We tried the broker thing but figured we were better off doing this!

Re: Open Houses

I liked the OH circuit. We started out just doing OHs and inbetween REAs, we hit the circuit again.

It's a nice way to see a house without someone in your face - it's more leisurely.

Us too... we haven't tried an agent yet, but we are only looking at open houses at the moment. We are just starting and trying to get ideas, but if we saw a house we loved at an open house, we would certainly make an offer.

I like open houses too. You can hit alot on the weekend without and appt and you can go around a neighborhood you are interested in and see many houses quickly.

Thats how I bought my 1st house.

I was VERY preggo and we decided to walk around a neighborhood we were eye-balling for a while, hoping I'd go into labor...well we popped in on an open house and made an offer which was accepted that night- baby came later on that week Chat Icon So you never know whats waiting for you.

Re: Open Houses

I just thought of this and it might be helpful:

The realtor we used is currently the listing agent on our neighbors house. She told us one way she avoids people who arent truely interested in the house is to advertise the open house on the internet and in the paper, but not put out signs or balloons the day of. That way, the people who come are not just random people, but rather people that saw the advertisement and made it a point to come. That might be something your husband is more comfortable with.....

Althought as i stated earlier - I do think you have nothing to lose by having an open house with signs all over the neighborhood!!!

definitely have an open house!!

DH and I enjoy going to open houses since the pressure is OFF! as opposed to going to look at a house with an agent & all eyes are on you and your facial expressions.

Id have a open house..esp now being that the weather is nice I think you'll get a good amt of pple stopping by. DH and I liked to drive around on weekends and stop by open houses that we were interested in.

I also agree that theres really nothing to lose by trying.

Re: Open Houses

We bought our house from a place we saw that was having an open house FSBO.

We were driving by, saw the sign, and decided it couldnt hurt. Well, it was the one and I NEVER would have chosen to see it based on the MLS listing.

DO IT!!!!
