One night getaway
Where would you go if you just had a Sat/Sun, driving distance, don't mind staying in budget hotel. No kids.

Re: One night getaway
B&B out east and I would take lunch to a vineyard and just have a nice day going to a couple of vineyards.
Or go into the city and go out for a nice dinner and see a show
Or drive down to AC for the night

Re: One night getaway
You could go to Boston and visit some of their sites like the aquarium, Quincy's market for shopping and eating. Drive is about 4 hours but could be longer.
Lancaster for outlet shopping and amish stuff. 3-3.5 hours of driving.
NYC. Stay locally and go in for a show and nice dinner.
Poconos could be fun since it's off season. Not sure what there is to do there but I think they have a casino now at Mount Airy.
Speaking of casinos... Foxwoods, Mohegan in CT. Or any in Atlantic City.
I wanted to offer up some options but I like the idea by the PP of going east and wineries. That sounds relaxing and not too much driving.
Have fun!

One night getaway
New Hope, PA - cute town with restaurants and little shops - about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from LI. There are a bunch of cute B&Bs there too.

One night getaway
Finding a room last minute is not easy! I have done the wineries recently. I'm more of an outdoorsy person especially in August, so I don't want to do the City.
I ended up finding a budget inn with decent ratings in the Poconos area, near the Delaware Water Gap. Hopefully the weather will be nice for some hiking!
